Award-winning choreographer and dance artist reaches for the stars in her most ambitious community arts project to date…

creating community and connection through dance and art

Annette Carmichael Projects

Annette Carmichael is an award-winning choreographer and dance artist based in Kwoorabup/Denmark, Western Australia. Annette was inspired to produce a story of hope, following the production of the Beauty Index Trilogy. ‘The Stars Descend’ is a response to global anxiety about climate change. This ambitious new project is anchored within Annette Carmichael Projects‘ disruptive process of artistic collaboration, Distributed 15.

A Creative Process

DISTRIBUTED 15 is a creative process comprising fifteen threads of creativity. It’s about cultivating connection, inspiration and action in regional communities through arts, all centred around themes of climate action and hope.

The Stars Descend

THE STARS DESCEND is a performance that unfolds over five locations along a 1000km corridor in South Western Australia. Each of the five chapters responds to the extraordinary biodiversity of the Gondwana Link. Each of the five chapters is created in response to their location. Five teams of local professional artists are working together with community, rehearsing towards performances that will resound in splendrous outdoor settings. Be prepared for breathtaking and immersive experiences of movement and sound.
